Lee Keanes - KILLER KITSCH QUEEN

  • Community Music & Theatre

Lee has been working in various community-centred projects since 2013. She uses tools from her studies in 'Contemporary Performance Practice' such as: Theatre, dance and music. She has worked in Scotland, Germany, Croatia and France. In numerous settings, such as: Urban gardens, a centre for people with special needs, theatres, an intercultural centre, refugee-camps, hospitals, old-peoples homes and schools.

Her latest work was as a "Stadtteilkümmerer", a community-organiser, in a deprived neighbourhood in Hamburg called 'Mümmelmannsberg'. Financed by the 'Bezirksamt Hamburg-Mitte', her job included: Supporting and creating neighbourhood initiatives and organising a street-festival with over 7000 visitors.

Her main interest is to bridge the gaps between people who would otherwise never meet. She believes the shortest bridge between people is through creative expression or food. As she is not an expert in cooking, she focuses on creative expression.
