ABOUT
LEE KEANES
Singer | Songwriter
Lee Keanes is a Scottish-German singer who's influences are Etta James soulful voice combined with Regina Spektor's playful lyrics. She performs solo with her ukulele, loop station and other electronic gear. And also with her Jazz-band "Kino". Drawing on her studies of experimental theatre, she combines colorful imagery with conductor-like gesticulations.
She is currently working on an E.P. named 'Pink Transcendence', in which she hopes to give people the opportunity to experience "kitsch" without being ashamed of it. Instead of seeing kitsch as frivolous, she views it as "the naive dream of peace", which we must allow ourselves to dream, in order to stay alive.
She does this by imagining how alien-angels would sound like, if they woke you up from a coma with a synthesizer.
Her prior work includes a collection of published music under the title "Stay Soft" and a "community-music" project in Hamburg.
